IT Professionals Workshop

There is a terrific new opportunity coming up for IT Professionals in our community banks.
In the past fifteen years I have become a strong proponent of the VACB and other industry groups that support peer networking and collaboration. The opportunities to share ideas and bring in outside speakers benefits our industry, our banks, and our customers. As a CIO I am fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in several of these groups, including currently serving as chair of the VACB Technology Committee. I have the benefit of learning from peers and experts about topics that are significant to my bank. In fact these interactions bring so much value that I regret that many in my team do not get the same exposure to outside ideas and peer contacts.
While there are countless events and conferences put on throughout the year, the most common attendees are management and senior level staff. Whether it’s due to the high cost of registration fees, extended travel expense, or just time away from the office for a multi-day event, most events are just out of reach of many community bank IT professionals. It’s for this reason that I am delighted that the VACB staff and the VACB Technology Committee have teamed up to create the VACB IT Professionals Workshop. This program has been purposefully designed to create an educational program with peer networking opportunities that fits the schedule and budget limitations of many community bank IT departments.
The program includes focused topics to help with the continuing education needed for the rapidly changing technology world. Speakers will discuss how to manage the latest version of Windows, Proactive network management to reduce downtime, and an update from FS-ISAC on hacking and technical details of what to watch for with the latest cybersecurity threats. Interspersed in the technical sessions we will also have experts that will help the Technology Professional better understand their role in supporting the bank and how to best prepare for the next IT Exam.
This program has been built from the ground up to focus on the topics and needs of the technology staff in our banks. If you are an IT Professional, or have responsibility for technology in your bank, check out the agenda here and sign up early. We are limiting attendees to provide the best experience possible, so don’t wait!
